Winter Greetings from Nelson

Winter has established a foothold in Nelson since mid-November and the snowpack is readily building in the mountains.  We have been busy putting together local courses and ski trips for the season, late spring ski touring in Europe and ski mountainering programs in B.C. & Yukon.  Hope you can join us in the backcountry this winter.

Ski Touring in B.C.

Ski the backcountry near Nelson, enjoy deep powder and diverse terrain near Whitewater, Kootenay Pass or Valhalla Provincial Park.  Experience  Rogers Pass with fantastic alpine descents, tree skiing & high-glaciated ascents.

Experience the rewards of skiing through rugged mountain ranges on a 3-10 day remote ski traverse  like Valhalla, Glacier Horseshoe or South Glacier, in pristine B.C. backcountry.  For a hut based tour, Wapta Icefield is a beautiful 4-5 day traverse of Canadian Rockies.

European Alps Skiing

Ski touring in the Alps is a rewarding and civilized experience. The many backcountry huts, comfortably perched in the high alpine, offer a warm bed and catered so you ski tour with a light pack.

European Alps are one of the most stunning high elevation mountain ranges with iconic summits, complex glaciations & stunning alpine faces. Join a week long traverse of one of these intermediate & advanced classic ski program:  Haute Route, Berner Oberland or Monte Rosa.  Trips begin April 16th.

Ski Mountaineering

Consider a ski mountaineering trip if you enjoy the added challenge of reaching a significant summit while ski touring. Hut based & remote expeditions, 7-20 day long trips beginning in May.

In Europe, explore high peaks in Bernise Alps or Monte Rosa massif. In Western Canada, Mt. Waddington and in the Yukon, Mt. Logan both mountains offer outstanding ski mountaineering venues for the intermediate to advanced ski tourer.
